Last weekend (a week ago) I had horrendous toothache . Naturally my fasting sugars went up about 1.0 more than usual. On Monday I had root canal treatment and now have a temporary filling in. My fasting bloods have still not come down. I am bothered I might have an infection as although I am in no pain I would have expected the numbers to have returned to usual by now. Have others had root canal treatment who can advise me please.
BTW - I control on low carb/low GI diet and exercise and there has been no change there. I have checked at 2 hours and 3 hours and numbers do go down to normal (5.6ish) so it is just the fasting numbers.
Thanks

Just had root cannel work after an infection / abscess under one of the back teeth. I was given antibiotics and he drained the abscess due to the pain, then had to wait a month before the root work. When I went back the tooth was still painful to touch as the infection was still there. He did the bulk of the work then and did some more cleaning up.

A week later the infection had gone and a permanent filling put in, only problem now is the tooth has cracked :( and might need pulling, as the last tooth that had root cannel work on shattered after a short while.

Could not really tell to any degree that my BS had risen as I was in the process of bringing the sugar levels down.
