I was diagnosed September last year, numbers just over what need to be called diabetic (GP even asked a second opinion due to it)
Had a blood test in December and everything was back down to very good levels and told if they stick they will take me off metformin at next check.
Haven't been back mostly as I haven't been that great with my cutting of sugar, its far better than it was before but nowhere near as good as it should be.
For example I used to eat a 6 inch or footlong chicken subway with extra cheese and sweet chilli sauce daily, with a cookie and most days ate something like a bar of choc or a bag of Haribo each day, sometimes if say I got some reduced yellow sticker goodies like a pack of 4-6 jam donuts I could scoff those down.
These days I don't eat Subway any more (had it 4 times since Christmas) I still have 2 takeaways a week which normally are something like a large chicken kebab, and during week I may cook a burger and put it in a bun and eat with chips maybe twice a week and rest of week live off cheap meals I get from butcher (if I go on a Saturday they reduce stock that needs to go to £1 from around £4 originally) and I get things like macaroni cheese, a cheese pizza, haggis, potatoes and neeps.
I don't eat sweets more than say 2 days a week but when I do I binge still. but rest of week I am fine.
Anyway getting to my health, I last checked about 6 weeks ago and it said I lost about 2-3 stone from my previous check at Christmas (couldn't remember exact number from Christmas hence 2-3 stone) and was happy and even before that people commented I have lost weight!.
I have however been feeling exhausted for last few months more than ever but I have been this way for 2 years but now worse.
I normally am a very fast walker despite my weight to point people tell me to slow down but for last few months is getting so walking 5 minutes to nearest recycling bins feels like I have walked a few miles, I am sluggish and whilst my joints don't feel tight and I don't notice pain it feels like I have been carrying heavy shopping for a long time so hard to stretch and I am starting to hobble rather than walk, and I feel exhausted to the point where I am sleeping 12-14 hours a day and feeling like I haven't slept and dizzy, I know sleeping too much is a problem but I am so knocked out.
Have started going back to office part time and the 1st day there was ok, 2nd day I noticed I was a bit slow mentally and in the afternoon got so sluggish to point I was drifting a bit, not quite asleep but like I have had a pint or something.
I also felt hungrier than usual, I did have lunch of a small pie and breakfast was a packet of crisps, by time I finished I could barely walk out of office and sat on wall outside for about 20 minutes but managed to drag myself to nearby shop and bought 3 cookies, ate them like I was starving and within a few minutes felt a little better and about another 10 minutes later I felt like I could walk normally.
Apart from feeling tired/weak the following weeks I didn't have another episode like that, was one day I felt very weak though, I did take a co-codamol tablet and seemed ok after in fact my legs and arms worked normal.
Apart from that I can't think of any other issues apart from I am struggling to swallow a bit, if I take a gulp of drink to fast or too big my throat tightens and I choke a little.
I think I have a mix of issues, I do have hay fever, and I do take anti anxiety meds, I am not looking for medical advice as such as seeing if something like this is more common, and/or it could be some form of allergy maybe to something like metformin?
