Hi everybody
just joined recently and wondered if I could pick your brains on the above as I am still wrestling with my diet...have bought some rye bread and its rated as having 35.1g of carbohydrate per 100g is this high low or medium before i give it a go....
many thanks neil

Hi Neil

If you are restricting your carbohydrate intake perhaps you need to look at this from the other end of the telescope. :) How many carbs are you going to eat each day and how does this bread fit into your plan?

Hello Synonym
yes I see what you mean...at the moment I am trying to keep off carbs completely although it is difficult to eliminate them altogether but I find bread the most difficult ..when your 57 and eaten sandwiches for snacks all your life it leaves rather a hole in your diet..but then most people on this website have been there ,got the teeshirt etc....i'll try a slice and see what happens
cheers neil

Hello again Neil

I understand completely where you are coming from and can only say that you have to adjust the set – the mind set that is! You just have to rethink it all and start from scratch - it is do-able. You don’t actually ‘need’ bread as such but if you are desperate there are lower carb alternatives available. If you use the search button to find out about low carb bread you will find plenty of info there.
After that the only answer is testing, testing, testing to see how your BG levels react to certain foods, only then can you really know.

Have you got a carb counter? I have a Collins gem Carb Counter and that helps as it gives details on a wide range of foods.

My Teeshirt says try making a low carb bread yourself. It is so quick to make, no cooking skills required - make before you put the kettle on for coffee and eat it after you have unloaded the dishwasher or some other quick job.
I use the Percy's 1 minute Microwave bread. You can find it elsewhere on these forums just use the search. You have to buy the ingredients online from one of the low carb sources like lowcarbmegastore.com

I have a weakness for real whole meal toast and eat a slice only about once a month now - after a whole year low carbing / 2 stone lighter and am just a few years older so you too can do it.
