I recently underwent a Sacroiliac joint steroid injection, ever since then my control of my diabetes has gone off control, I have tried to adjust insulin levels but does not seem to stabilise. Anybody else have seen this problem?

Thanks for the reply SarahQ what do you mean by "bolus", in my case the level rocketed up I adjusted my levels and now am getting hypos far too frequent!

what affect did the steroid injection have on your pain? If your pain is better you might be less 'stressed'. Hope it works for you.

I give loads of steroid injections to many parts of the body, including to diabetics. I have never been aware of a localised joint injection causing loss of sugar control. Please let me know.

Thanks. Will pay attention to this.

If you have an inflammatory condition this might be more complicated than I think. Most of my patients do not have rheumatoid arthritis. I will look up pubmed as well right now.

Hi SarahQ

nothing on pubmed. I emailed my rheumatologists last night. If they are not aware of it I will do a wee audit.

Hope your rotator cuff settles. Make sure you do the physio as well as getting the injections.

Oh the foot.....

Stopped antibiotics 6 weeks ago. Started all to flare uo 2 weeks ago. My Lis Franc joint (part of midfoot/forefoot junction) started to dislocate on last weeks xray. Looks like Charcot arthropathy, but went to see nationally recognised expert in Edinburgh yesterday. He is still convinced it is infection in the foot. So back to my Aircast boot . Having a special splint made to fit inside my bespoke shoes. Back on antibiotics. Starting linezolid (Zyvox) tomorrow morning for 3 weeks. Costs £800 per week - usually used for MRSA infections. After 3 weeks back to use clindamicin and ciprofloxacin for 6-12 months.

Looks like I might need a further partial amputation of the medial ray leaving 4th and 5 th toes only. But not just yet. I am holding off the hyberbaric oxygen therapy for the moment- but that has been approved if needed (£36,000). Costing us all a fortune at the moment. But glad to be back at work.

The problem with linexolid is that I have to avoid tyramine. No wine or beer, caviar, old meat, mature cheese, soya products, avocados, red plums, marmite etc.

My diabetologist almost convinced to giving me Byetta on top of my insulin. Problem is I have lost 1 and half stone since Easter. I need to really convinve him.

Here's hoping.
