Could anyone recommend any lower sugar cereals and yogurts from Sainsburys that I could buy for an elderly relative who has diabetes? She doesn't like porridge, but prefers cereal with yogurt in the morning. Thank you

I've had to ditch cereals as they really spike me up.
Yoghurt with nuts and berries most mornings now.
I do have that mouse food kind of stuff and sprinkle it on my yoghurt sometimes ... I seem to be ok with that.
Sorry I've been no help whatsoever have I.

I am similar to @JACKTHELAD Any cereals are bad for me. It isn't the added sugar content so much as the total carbohydrates that make them a poor choice as far as blood sugars are concerned. I stick to a plain full fat Greek yogurt and add my own berries (usually strawberries). Watch out for flavoured yogurts - they all have added sugar, as do many of the low fat ones. Read the nutrition labels and chose the ones with the least total carb content.

Hi, I'm sure this isn't what you wanted to hear but low sugar cereal is a contradiction, cereals are very carbohydrate loaded foods so effectively by there very nature high sugar, they may not be listed as sugars but sugars they are

nice avatar btw :)

Could you persuade her to try berries (a few strawberries or blueberries, for example) with plain or preferably Greek yogurt?

Not only is it delicious and far more nutritious than cereals, it is also much better for blood glucose levels than cereals.

Mornflake flakes with red berries not too bad for me - they are oat based. Sainsburys do them. They also stock the low sugar Irish yoghurts.

Some people have the alpen no,added sugar .....a small portion , with maybe a few blueberries ....nice with milk or yogurt
