Sandwiches

As others have said the fat in cheese might delay the absorption of the meal. Secondly if there is more ham on the ham only sandwich than on the ham/cheese combo, it may be that the ham has preservatives in it which contain carbs, so that the overall carb content is higher and these preservatives might also be absorbed quickly.
