Blood has been really good lately since i adjusted my insulin levels and was 7.0 before breakfast this morning. However we have a new canteen at work and fancied a sausage roll which was realy nice but now an hour later my reading is 23.8! The worst its been for ages and i havent even had lunch yet!

Oh my. I guess you'll know to avoid them in future!

I'm lucky I guess in that I think sausage rolls, pork pies, pasties, etc. are absolutely vile. :)

Got distracted with the avatar. :) for some reason I keep on thinking that Homer Simpson really was having the sausage roll x haha!

Any form of pastry 'kills' me . :dead:
Both with my BG range and the fact I am Coeliac too .
Any will make me ill for a few days at a time .
So not worth the risk for myself anymore .
I totally avoid bakery shops now for this reason .

I loved real confectioners custard too :bigtears:
Coffee Renoirs and Bevarian slices were my favourite in the past .

I'm very doubtful that the soggy roll caused the high after an hour. Soggy rolls are normally prone to spike people 3 or 4 hours later due to their high fat content.
As a matter of interest did you bolus for the soggy roll and if so how big was the roll and how many carbs did you bolus for?

As it happens it wasn't at all soggy but yes quite long about 10" and it really was the only thing i'd eaten since breakfast.

It's ok I always call sausage rolls soggy rolls as don't like pastry that much.
If that roll was 10 inches long then you are talking well over 50 carbs I would have thought, so did you have insulin to cover it? I see you are on insulin but not sure which type.

I take novamix but only once at breakfast and once later with my evening meal so didnt have any with me at work. I felt fine though and all ok now.

From what you are say I think you need to sit down and have a good talk with an HCP so that they can explain how you are meant to use your insulin and regulate your food intake.
