Saved by the cat?

Type of diabetes
Type 1
At 1.30am I was in a deep sleep with hubby snoring beside me when our bedroom door flew wide open filling the room with light from the hall and with a loud meowing in bounded our cat. He usually sneaks quietly in so that in itself was strange. I decided whilst awake to do a blood test to be met with a 1.7 and still the husband snored on! Was I saved by the cat? I think so!

It is scary, but not actually dangerous to be at 1.7 as long as you stop it going down further and have your supplies to hand. Animals are very aware of these things. yours is obviously a very intelligent puss.

I had a 1.2 once and my daughter called an ambulance as I was acting confused but thankfully I'd recovered before they came. It is scary though especially during the night!

Depends if your type 1 or 2 as to if it is dangerous!

My dog, will come and sit by my side of the bed, if she thinks I am unwell and another dog, we looked after would put his paw on my arm, if he thought I was unwell.

My partner has just shown me this quote to highlight the ignorance of some people. A blood sugar reading of 1.7 is serious no matter what type of diabetes someone has! The sooner this ignorance is addressed the better. I am quite amazed that someone who is a member of this forum would not understand the basics!!
I have heard of many class where animals have responded to their owners low sugar. I did think it was to do with their sense of smell being more advanced, but it doesn't seem to be the case here.

Sarah (CrimsonClients partner) on a bit of a rant. Hello everyone!! X

Sorry if i offeneded - i didnt think as much damage could be done in a type two diabetic with lows (i know they only happen if medicated with certain things, or am I wrong again?)? I may be wrong but i was actually responnding as a type 1 that 1.7 would be very dangerous - i would probably be dead :-/

I think 1.7 is dangerous for anyone but maybe what Engineer was trying to say was that if T1 or on insulin, that 1.7 may still well be dropping further ?
