hello, i'm type 1 and i live in falmouth, cornwall, and i've been trying to find some other t1s nearby, but it seems to be some kind of secret. are there any locals i can speak to? i'm 24 and was diagnosed when i was 3, but i still don't have any diabetic friends. are you all hiding? it would be really really good to actually meet someone who knows what i'm talking about. my friends are wonderful but they arent diabetic! come on, theres got to be someone closer than plymouth or glasgow! :D

hiya sorry i didnt mean to sound rude. im happy to find this site, and thanks for the welcome! im not even cornish myself, i just live here. its funny, i seem to have hit a new stage in life - i crave healthy stuff now. when i was growing up all i wanted was what i shouldnt have - cake, honey, chocolate. but now i just get hungry for carbs, pasta, fruit n veg. i hope it lasts!

You didn't appear rude at all :)
It's fab here I have to admit and I have learned loads. Know what you mean about how the tastes change...I have only been a type 2 for a few weeks but my tastes are changing already although I do have the odd carb craving, which I am trying to keep off as low carbing is having a good effect on my levels.
I am very very jealous that you live in Cornwall, used to go there on holiday as a kid and always said I was going to move there one day!

cornwall is great. just seems to be empty of diabetics! to be fair ive only been looking recently. my advice for you would be, look after yourself - eat well, sleep well, excercise, blah blah youve probably heard this a lot the last two weeks! but i stopped being sensible in my teens, and really regret it. now all i want to do is eat potatoes and go to bed before 10. if you get any cravings for vodka, or eating cakes the size of tables, try and ignore them, its not worth it!
