Do you know of a drug that is a sure fire way of lowering blood glucose fast?

Metformin takes months to make any difference and i am looking for a stronger drug that will work in a couple of hours. There must be something. If I went into hospital with off the scale sugar readings, they must have some drugs that can bring it down quickly in an emergency situation.

If you went into hospital with very high BG levels then I'd expect you'd be put on insulin.

If you want a magic pill that means you do not have to put in any effort then I am afraid there isn't one.
Insulin would be used in a hospital setting for an uncontrolled, high blood sugar reading.

The only magic pill I have found is to go for a brisk walk and I mean a 3 miler or so. This seems to have a surprising effect on blood sugar levels in a very short time.

Hi. I'm afraid diet is the only solution; reduce the carbs and the sugar will go down. If you are an overweight T2 then diet is really the only way and if you are a late onset T1 then pills such as Gliclazide can help before insulin is needed

I agree with all the other posters here. However when metformin and gliclizide wasn't working I was put on Victoza and It dropped my bs over night. But this is not an easy cure it is in fact 1 step away from insulin, and I wouldn't recommend that as it turns life upside down. I lost my LGV so that meant I lost my job and that is just opened a big can of worms

Type 2 diagnosed 24/01/2013.
Novomix 30, Victoza, metformin 2000mg sr (but not taking them as they play havoc with my insides,

How high are your levels these days, and what have you tried to bring them down?

You need to be careful here, the rate of change from high to low is just as dangerous as sustained high levels. No magic bullets I'm afraid, diet and exercise is the best route and glucose lowering drugs can present their own problems in the form of hypos
