Just come back from Waitrose with Itsu crispy seaweed thins and well, I dunno really.

On the plus side, you get three packages in one 5g pack. The entire 5g pack contains 0.4g of carbs and 24 calories, so suitable whether you are low carbing or counting calories.

There are no additives to the seaweed other than sea salt and olive oil, which makes them vegan, despite the fishy taste.

There's 1.4g protein in a 5g pack, 9ug vitamin B12 i.e. 360% of Nutrient Reference Value and they also have 122ug of iodine i.e. 81% of Nutrient Reference Value. Salt is 0.30g per 5g pack.

So, what do they taste like ? Well, I think they taste like very thin, crunchy fish skin or er, seaweed. If you hate fish, don't bother. They are very thin, and crumble easily, so you could probably crumble them onto things as part of a topping. They aren't thick enough to roll, but they fold, more or less.

I'm not sure they would be ideal to eat in the cinema, because you'd probably get them all down your front.

If you like seaweedy, salty, crunchy, olivey things or Chinese crispy fried seaweed, and you don't mind crumbly and you're happy to pay 1.89 to munch a snack which is actually doing you good then I'd suggest trying them.

They are growing on me, I can see me crumbling the seaweed over salads or on top of fish as well as munching them while watching catchup.

My sister gave me a couple of packs recently, and I enjoyed them, but I'm not sure that they're worth £37.80 per kg! Though, for an occasional (extremely) light, salty snack... why not?

They sound intriguing - thanks for the heads up. I've just added some to my next Ocado order :)
