I was diagnosed Type 2 8 weeks ago and saw the Diabetes Nurse 6 weeks ago, when my numbers were 63-7.9%-10 .

I saw her today and in 8 weeks I have lost 18 lbs by cutting down on fruit and carbs generally, my numbers today are 52-6.9% and she didn't know what the "10" from last time was, which is strange, as she gave it to me then.
Does anyone know what the "10" was and what would be its current number ?
I think it may be another way of expressing one of the other results.

I consider these new numbers to be good news , but don't intend to get complacent.

She is going to chase up the retinal exam I haven't yet had and also arrange for me to have a half day education course.
As my next appointment with her is in 6 months, that might be handy.

Did you have a fasting blood test first time? In which case the '10' may be your fasting blood sugars that morning

This will help

Well done on reducing your weight and blood sugar levels in only 8 weeks @Cranfield.
The 10 would have been your mmol/L figure.
The HbAic of 52 or 6.9% you are at today would be 8.4mmol/L
You can find a converter here: www.diabetes.co.uk/hba1c-to-blood-sugar-level-converter.html

Edit: I guess you are not testing your bs yourself, but if you use a bs meter it would show your bs figures in mmol/L.

Thanks for the info, I understand the results a bit better now.
None of my blood test have been "fasting" tests.

This is still very new to me, but I am learning a lot from this website.
If it wasn't here I think a lot of us would be quite lost.

Well done on your readings cranfield.

Unfortunately, the link offered cannot be found :(

I had my second visit to check my results and I was 113 in July, then 87 last week. That's all the Dr said. He was going to suggest an extra tablet, but then said that it is positive that the reading has come down, so going to test again in November. I don't understand if this is good, better or otherwise.

Your nurse has clearly explained it very well to you. Keep up the good work :)

The second link works fine. Maybe the first link didn't work because the very last letter in the url is not highlighted red which suggests it wasn't incorporated into the link?
It did work when I previewed it before posting. I don't know why the l was missing. I tried editing it and adding the l which again worked when I previewed it, but not when it was posted.
