So I have been to see a private GP this afternoon and I now have a referral to see a Endrincologist on Tuesday evening. Had to pay £66 to see the private GP but money well spent. My private health insurance will cover my initial consultations and stabilisation of Diabetes but not after that, which I suppose is fair enough.!
This guy was such a contrast, could not understand why I was put Glicazide for two weeks, with nothing else and also why my GP had just prescribed standard drugs with out talking to me or seeing me particualrly with an underlying condition like Malabsorption. He said that the concerns I had raised over a prescription for a standard Statin, with the problems I had and the questions I was asking were reasonable and intelligent. Actually admitted sometimes they just "tick boxes"! He has not prescribed anything so far as he thinks I need to be seen by a specialist!!!!
My surgery had actually faxed over my H1B results, which given my week of readings the private GP said may be a false positive. All this has already be raised by the real experts on THIS FORUM - you lot are BRILLIANT. :
Anyway, when I faxed my sugery yesterday, I had said I was having a work health check and this is why they needed the results. The Private GP is going to follow through with this to the consultant and say he is referring me after a health check, so that when the consultant does write to my NHS GP, so it won't look like I have gone behind his back and I won't be penalised. Not that they could treat me any worse than they do. But it just goes there are people out there who will listen. Mind you £66 for 20 mins work is a nice earner
Oh and just to put a cherry (are they allowed?) on the top, just had a call from my NHS surgery and they want to see me next Wednesday morning. That will be interesting becuase I will have see the consultant, so I will be able to tell them what I want.
Will keep you updated on this continuing saga! But again thank you a million, million times for keeping me from burying me head in the sand on this, because if this had carried I would have just said sod it and pretended I did not have it. BUT I DO HAVE DIABETES!
