Just been to see the Nurse for the first time since being told am Type2, went through all the stuff, asked her is there any chance of metering equipment for self management of my diabetes, said NO don't need one cause we will check ur bloods every 3 months now, so looks like am going to have to purchase one.....God Loves a Tryer..

A check every 3 month is "****".

Buying your own meter is always very helpful, I would like to recommend a meter which is very affordable with cheap lancets and test strips.

The meter linked above only comes with 10 test strips and you may need a lot initially. There is a discount code if you buy 5 or 10 boxes, which brings the price down to about £5 for 50 strips.
5 packs 264086
10 packs 975833

Hi @paulgillyuk I think the meter is so essential because I am really learning through testing what works to keep my numbers low and sometimes its not the obvious foods that bring numbers up or down and everyone is different! It seems absolutely crazy that u were told not to get one. Here in Ireland at clinic I was given one straight away and shown how to use it.And as someone on here has said recently "it will become your new best friend" I agree ,and a a good faithful friend at that! Good luck! :-)
