:D hi all went to see my nurse today for the first time got some good news well at least i think it is , i found out my first blood test was 6.5 which she said was very mild and i told her about my intentions to follow the low carb diet she was very happy about that too and was pleased that i had lost so much weight , also she was willing to supply meter and test strips but as i have to pay for my prescriptions its still cheaper to buy my own off e bay but if i ever want a new meter she would give me one free i was even offered 3 months gym membership but i think ill pass on that one . so all in all i feel much better today and a bit more elaxed about it now looking forward to my new way of eating and in a small way thankfull that it has happened its opened my eyes and i realise that i could not carry on as i was, being a chocoholic and general food addict thank you all for your help and information this site is amazing and so are the people

Gally ... well done and congratulations! Your post sounds so happy and bouncy (I can hear text :shh: ) that it's got me bouncing too. It's exciting when we get good results isn't it? :D

One thing I was puzzled about is why you have to pay for your prescriptions. Are you not on any meds at all for diabetes, because if you are you qualify for an Exemption Certificate and should ask your surgery to fill in the form for you and send it off.

If nursey can prescribe two pots at a time, it will cost you less than any e-bay seller I've seen.

Hi , no not on any meds at all for diabetes only statins and high blood pressure tabs which i have been on for years so no luck there she actually told me ive no need to test but ive already made my own mind up on that one and hobs didnt think to ask how many tubs on prescription ill ask on monday. Made me think today when she asked me if any of my family had it and i told her my father did i told her he was on meds called "rastinon" she had never heard of them although he has been dead for over 30 years the name of his meds just popped in my head i dont know how on earth i ever remembered lol
