Hi all. I am hoping that someone maybe able to give me some advice.
Since Christmas day I have been getting severe abdominal pains, whic have come and gone. I vomitted through the night two days ago and have a constant feeling of nausea. I am on 2x500mg of Metformin and 2x 80mg of Gliclizide with breakfast and the same at tea.
I had a niggle that it may have been the MEtformin, but seeing as Ive beem on it for atleast 6 months wasnt convinced. I decided to not take the metformin yesterday, or today, and have not had any pains...however my bs are averaging around 18, even with Gliclizide!!!!!(maybe just a coincidence) I cant get hold of my diabetes team. I have left 5 messages, but I guess the weather has stopped them from getting into work.
Any advice, and will I be doing any permenent damage if I dont get to see a doctor for a few days?
Thankyou

High blood sugars (Hyperglycaemia) can give symptoms much the same as you have quoted. However, so can many other non Diabetes related complaints. It may well be that Metformin could be reponsible - it may not be ?

My advice would be to see your GP ASAP not wait for the Diabetic Clinic.

Thanks Cugila
Didnt realise high bs could cause abdominal pain! My diabetes team did call back, and have suggested, GLucophage SR to see if I can tollerate that better than Metformin...if not, its insulin!!! Im seeing an endocronologist in 3 weeks, so im hoping he can shed some light on my "dibetes".
Thanks for your reply
