Type 2 Severe leg muscle pain

Hi! I am T2, and have good control.
I am also on 10mg Atorvastatin.
I have developed a very tight muscle feeling with pain.
Any advice?
 
It could be the Atorvastatin causing this. Statins are known to cause muscle pains in some people.
 
Stop taking statins. They cause severe muscle pain and also dementia like symptoms. They also raise blood sugar, so not helpful for people with diabetes. See ...
 
I got into a terrible state with Atorvastatin and Metformin - I started taking both and then stopped taking both at the same time - I felt so ill I really did not care - but it took some time for the worst effects to wear off completely even though I felt a lot better after about ten days - it was over Christmas last year so there wasn't much hope of seeing my doctor.
Be prepared for your reaction to the tablets not being recorded on your notes so you are encouraged to take them in future.
I suspect if all the side effects were known that the safe and effective treatments we are encouraged to take would be looked at far more cautiously.
 
It probably is the Atorvastatin, but you need to speak with your doctor about it and find out exactly what your cholesterol and the full breakdown is. (LDL/HDL/Triglycerides) Ask for a print out of your last test results. It may be you don't even need them.

Many many thanks to you all who have responded to my post.
I am going to tell my GP about having stopped the Statin.
I notice that my fasting and 2 hours after is more or less in the range.

If you genetically have high cholesterol I recommend you take medical advice. Another statin may not give you a side affect.
My hubby changed his and now ok.
His father's side all die of heart attacks. They have high cholesterol even thou walk loads and watch their diet. Statins work for some.
