severe shoulder/neck pain

Over the last 18months i have suffered with severe neck and shoulder pain. Could this be linked to diabetes or is it just me getting old?
I take Glucosamine supplements but wonder if they interact with Metformin.
Any help would be appreciated I'm getting little help from my GP

Look up frozen shoulder. Could this be it? I think (but I may be wrong) diabetics are more prone to these. The good news isn’t that it often resolves on its own after 18-24 months so you could be almost there if it is this. Physio or cortisone jabs can help many.

I had one last year and unfortunately it was very severe (one of the worst the surgeon had seen in quite a while) and required surgery 9 months in but this is most unusual.

Hi. Unlikely to be connected with the diabetes unless it's very badly controlled. Do you need some specific neck massage? My wife has suffered for years with a stiff neck and pain and it's relieved by an appropriate massage by some one who knows what they are doing. The Glucosamine shouldn't interact with the Metformin but you can always check at the local pharmacy.

I've had three frozen shoulders, one twice!! If you can go see a good physio as a first option.... drugs and injections later would be my suggestion.

I agree with one caveat, don’t let them force you into agonising exercises. A little discomfort and soreness is one thing, wanting to throw up with pain is entirely another. There are some around that think the latter is appropriate. A good physio won’t do that. It is important to move it as much as possible within your limitations. Not moving at all it makes things worse.
