Sharps Needle Box

Has anyone had difficulty of yellow sharps needle box disposal. Take mine to lloyds chemist and evertime they tell me that there is no room for the box.

We have 2 further chemists locally and am told they cannot take them as I am not registered for my prescriptions with them.
What to do with them????
 
Welcome to the forum @Elaine_roberts. It seems to depend where you live what the arrangements are. My local council collects the full ones and leave a new one, but I know that's not the case everywhere. Maybe try looking online to see if your council offers this, or ask your GP surgery.
 
I think its depends where you are as to what you can do, have you asked your doctors for what they suggest/can do?

I know where I am, I actually take my full boxes to my doctors and they give me a new sharps box - not always the same size, but always big enough for a while at least (and no I don't need to book an appointment or anything I just need to turn up when they're open)
 
Where I currently live the local chemist does not take sharps bins - instead I have to take them to the GP. Previous place I lived the council collected them but had to ring to arrange. So as others have said it varies.
 
Yep, in the area I live, my pharmacist definitely has no room and my GP surgery has no interest in T1.
I have to arrange with my council to collect the container from outside my house at. 5:30am.
 
My chemist said that they don't take them anymore and to get in touch with local council. They pick them up and dispose of them after booking online.
 
I'm supposed to take mine to the GPs, they stopped taking them because of covid and I'm not sure if they've started again. I keep forgetting to ask

The arrangements for GPs to take back sharps is dictated by CCGs.

So, nobody is automatically responsible to take them off your hands. The NHS would like the council's to be responsible (and most are), otherwise there may be a deal with pharmacies, or as a last resort you can find a company that specialises in disposing of medical waste.
