It appears that the powers that be have known for some time that Shift Work can make you more susceptible to Type 2 Diabetes
Your body clock is off and it's messing with your general health, if I had known this years ago when I worked at night as a taxi driver
I might have changed to the day shift, looking back I can see I was pre- diabetic as I had problems with exhaustion after eating at night,
I had a previous job involving climbing stairs, and had to stop eating dinner before work in the evening, otherwise I had a problem going
Up flights of stairs, funny thing was the exercise made me lose weight, ( so much for losing weight and curing diabetes ) I had small snacks
at intervals, and a meal after work at midnight,
Mabey this information should be more widely publicised regarding Shift Work and various illnesses

It is well known l did nights for 11 yrs pretty much solid with just odd shifts of days thrown in. l ended them and made the decision no more in around 2012.

From the start l knew it was implicated in diabetes, heart, various cancers, depression and other problems.
However l loved night work l liked the money and the job (in any order) so l chose to do it. l should have taken up the offer of checks all night shifters are offered but l didn't.

l am pretty certain what the root cause of my diabetes along with the stress from the last 3 years but that's life.
