Ut oh... forgot my breakfast this morning so stopped at the Healthfood shop near work and bought a Nutty 9Bar....as I've heard these mentioned on this website thought it might be okay. I read the ingredients... for the 50g bar it was 279 calories with 16.2 carbohydrates.
32.4 g carbs per 100 g? I don't think so ...
Next time I won't forget to take my breakfast out of the fridge before I leave for work! I also thought by choosing something that was a measured amount of carbs I would be safe. I find nuts too hard to resist and was worried I would nibble on them all day. So far I haven't found a plain yoghurt that I like that likes me... But I'm working on it. Breakfast is always my worst meal grrr
As DAFNE say you don't have to do a 2 hour test. If you're type 1 for most diabetics the quick acting insulin takes about 4 hours to do its thing. For me I use novorapid and after 2 hours I can be as much as 4-8 mmols higher than my BSs before a meal so I rely on the 4 hour test. Don't do any corrections until you know the first set of insulin has done its work otherwise you can end up in hypo later in the day due to insulin stacking.OOps pressed the wrong button -
Before Breakfast 8.6
1 hour later 12.9
Another 30 mins to go until the 2 hr test but I know it will still be high.
Some days I hate my meter
