Shortness of breath at night

I was diagnosed with T1 late last month, and have managed to get my BG levels way down, now generally between 4-7 at most times. However, when it comes to the evening, I am starting to struggle more with breathing which is a completely new phenomena for me, having always been a healthy individual (up until my body decided to attack itself, that is!).

I have woke up in the middle of the night on most nights since I have been out of the hospital (was diagnosed via DKA on 23 December), where I have had a shortness of breath, and this compounded with a very dry mouth. When I check my BG levels, they have always been above 5 but never higher than 8, so I am not sure what is causing me issue at night, and this is causing me great concern.

If anyone has any idea what this could possibly be a result of, I would love to hear from you..

Could it be that you are suffering from anxiety since being diagnosed? Would be worth talking to you doctor to find out what it is.

That's what I thought, I assume I have been waking up from panic attacks of some sort.

Hello , only a suggestion , worth checking things out , shortness of breath can be low iron levels for example .. A blood test will show up possible cause , or might be something totally different ..
Are you breathless only at night ..not a nice experience , a symptom of a problem which needs medical attention ..
Best wishes and let us know how you get on if you would like to ..Kat
