Type 1 Should diabetes affect being given more hours at work?

My girlfriend has type 1 and currently works part-time and she's in need of more hours at work, from which she had told they're there to be taken.

However, since her recent implications with her blood sugars, having a hypo, to which her work has come to find out.

She has been told that they can't give her more hours and that she is "under review" from having recent hypos which she's needed to be taken to hospital.

My question is that are her work/manager(s) allowed to prejudice her from something that clearly isn't her fault?

Thanks.

(She hasn't had any hypos at work, only during the night)

Hi. In some ways I think the employer may be trying to be helpful and avoid too much pressure on your girlfriend and may be worrying she will have a bad hypo at work. I think you may need to determine what is causing your girlfriends frequent hypos. In general bad hypos needing medical attention should be a rare event. Has you girlfriend sought advice from the Dr or clinic? She should be on Basal/Bolus insulin with a balanced Basal and carb-counting the Bolus. She may already be doing all this. Some posters find to avoid night-time hypos despite getting everything 'right' is to take some extra carbs at bed-time? BTW too much alcohol should be avoided as the liver can't dump emergency glucose if it's busy removing alcohol.

Thanks for the reply, you've shed some light on the situation. I shall let her know :)
