I've been on the LCHF diet for just over a year. Have been taken off metformin which caused B12 problems and have been on sitagliptin and 80mg gliclazide. My last HBa1C was 39 upon which my GP said I was in danger of hypos and took the gliclazide away. Since then my fasting sugar levels have been too high so she prescribed canaglifloxin which does not appear to make any difference in that the sugars are still too high (8.8 on average). I've started back on my gliclazide that I had left but on 40mg but, obviously, I'll run out some time. The GP is scratching her head and mentioned a referral to an endicronologist. Should I pursue that? I've been for a retinopathy test this morning and there is evidence of bleeds although it's not clear whether they are recent or not. Having had laser treatment on one eye in the past, I'm very anxious not to endanger my eyesight. My low HBa1C was achieved with the help of the medication and that doesn't seem to be a reason to then reduce it. Any comments/ideas much appreciated!!
