Hi guys .. i am in a dilemna .. there is this internship in which i will have to go to a foreign country alone "literally alone " all people there will be strangers for a time span of 6 weeks. Family and doctor have no issues BUT the only thing is will i be able to manage by bgs or not .... will i be able to have a proper diet. . I know i should not be missing on such opportunities but i am really nervous . Any suggestions! :confused:

I'm sure you'll be able to adapt your diet and manage your bg levels, if your unsure try and find out as much information about diabetes in the country that you are visiting so you don't come unstuck.

Hello,
Sounds like a great opportunity!

If you manage well at home I don't see why you shouldn't manage anywhere else :-) you sound pretty sensible having already checked with the doc.

As someone who spent 3 months working in France on my tod for a work placement whilst at uni, I'd say of course you can do it. I've since worked in many places abroad and always gone alone. 6 weeks is not a long time away and you will be absolutely fine. Your diet will work out alright and you'll have the time of your life. Don't be scared of it, grab it with both hands and make the most of it!

Whatever country you visit in this world, there will be diabetics who manage their condition well. Therefore it stands to reason that you can do it to - in whichever country you live in or visit.

Read up on local foods and what may be ok or not ok. If you have been lucky to get this internship do not let fear hold you back from your dreams.

Have fun :woot::woot:
