Should I get tested?

Hello!

Is it possible to have a normal blood sugar and still have Diabetic symptoms? For the last month I've been constantly tired, drinking lots more water than usual, peeing a lot, eating constantly and never feel full, I get dizzy sometimes, and I have lost a bit of weight but not enough to make me worry about it. I'm 24 so I kind of assumed I was passed the age for this, but my Dad was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 22. I went to a walk in clinic and they took my blood glucose levels, which were normal, and told me not to worry about it. Should I go and get a full blood test, or is the blood glucose level sufficient? Is there even a way to test and see if your pancreas is slowing down? Sorry for all of the questions and thanks for the help.

Yes, given all the symptoms and the fact that it is in the family you should go and discuss it fully with your GP and get blood tests done, not just a finger prick test, to set your mind at ease one way or the other.

I would go to my gp, explain what is wrong and ask for the full range of tests - if nothing shows up it will at least put your mind at rest - with your family history I would have thought it advisable.

Cheers

It looks like your another victim of financial cut backs as the clinic should have offered you a correct test in the first place .You may be having a ghost experiance (family connected ) defo get checked and if you are diabetic you've already joined the elite diabetes forum on the web :D :D
Good luck JF.
