Self absorbed and rude people! Motorists who are oblivious to the rest of the world, and really don't give a ****!
Hi, I have just had a most virulent sickness bug - hopefully not to be repeated in a long time! Having been ill all day Sunday, I am still feeling very nauseous and the thought of food is just so unappealing. Having eaten nothing, and drinking only water on Sunday, I managed some very bland porridge, tomato soup and an egg with slice of toast throughout yesterday, more or less forcing myself to eat it as not hungry! Maybe not the best things, but all I could tolerate. I am taking metformin twice a day, completely missed on Sunday as was barely conscious enough to even think of taking it! Took yesterday, but worried how this affecting my glucose levels as still feeling quite ill, cannot seem to shake off and wondering if this partially due to diabetes. Any advice on foods that can get me back on track and will help sugar levels would be much appreciated.

I always find well done wholemeal toast (dry) covered in lightly scrambled eggs will stay down, and of course eggs do not cause a rise in BG.

Sounds good, not actually vomiting now, but wish this nauseous feeling would go away!

Ah well .. in that case a small to med small spud well baked in its skin with a little grated cheese and a few baked beans will be kinda mid range to lowish on the glycemic index (GI) and also very filling for the jippy tum and if you include a baked sausage it will be even more filling, but dont load up with carbs or you'll get high BG's.

If you have a stomach bug it is best not to eat any dairy products at all as this causes the bug to (feed) as it were .Clear soup is best made with plenty of veg a little toast is ok if your bgs can cope with this also apple can help .The main thing is to get rid of the bug totaly from your system other wise it just comes back Plenty of liquids are also important so that you dont dehydrate . Hope you feel better soon.

Such wise and amazing advice, thank you guys. I have managed, finally, to get most of the awful nausea from my system, but I have never felt so weak in my life. I have lost around 4lbs in weight, trying something a little more substantial to eat today and see how it goes. I had a huge urge of vanilla ice cream last night, not something I usually fancy a great deal, and would not have thought it was ideal for sickness, however, it is mentioned on the link that Catherine kindly send so may give it a try. :D

Thanks again, no idea how I would manage this diabetes thing without this forum, it is like a lifeline

Usually when a type 2 gets a bug the BS go sky high. So low glycemic comfort foods are good - eggs, hot oatmeal (steel cut oats are lowest), cheese if you have the trots, and my favorite is the Thai Tom Ka soup with a little chicken or shrimp. Coconut oil and milk are easier for your body to digest because the fats don't require your liver to process. Shitaki mushrooms have a drug called Lentinan that boosts your immune system by increasing your body's production of interferon.

Health Benefits

A symbol of longevity in Asia because of their health-promoting properties, Shiitake mushrooms have been used medicinally by the Chinese for more than 6,000 years. Now that their rich, smoky flavor has endeared them to American tastebuds, these exotic hearty mushrooms can be found in supermarket shelves across the U.S.
