I have been taking 4x500mg metformin for a few years now. I had my medication reduced to 3 per day and since then i have a red and warm rash across my nose and cheeks, wondering if anyone else has experienced side effects from reducing Metformin or could this be just a coincidence?

Hey @kevkevkev, good going on starting to reduce your Metformin - I am currently doing the same. Haven't any side effects and I would rather doubt that this 'rash' is related to the Metformin. My guess is that you may have a case of rosacea, a skin condition that looks like you describe or with small looking pimples/bumps as well.....may not be, but look it up on Google and see if it sounds like that. If so, may need to see your GP....Or you might have a case of contact dermatitis that can look similarly as well - maybe look that up too:) Hope you get it sorted out/L

I dont think it has anythign to do with metformin :¬(

I get something like that alot too nowdays

After years of seeing consultants final conclusion is i get flare ups of seborrheic dermatitis
If i notice it coming on I use prescribed Protopic 0.1% ointment

Stops my flareup overnight
