Hia - does anyone ever get a bit of discomfort with these sets at times? I've probably used about 7 or 8 by now (between using saline first and then starting on insulin this week) and this is the first issue I've had with them. The insertion point that I can see through the little clear bit on the plaster in not red at all but I would call the site 'tender' especially when my clothes sit against it. I'm due a change of set tomorrow but I wondered if sometimes, for whatever reason, some sites are a bit more painfull than others? There is no problem with the insulin flow.

Re: Silouette infusion sets - discomfort felt on site area

Hi Riri,

I've been reading this forum for over 6 years, I've had diabetes nearly 13 years and last Tuesday finally migrated from Novo rapid / Levemir pens to a medtronic paradigm veo pump. I have only just joined the forum at long last. I have a really busy life with varied days of hard work hard plan, hence the pens just couldnt keep up with me and my meal times.

I've had 3 cannulars now, a test one for a few hours and two proper changes. I use the silhoette.

I too have felt some tenderness, especially during big bolus - over 5 - or if I catch it.

I'm very slim and athletic and didn't like the idea of the steel canula that medtronics do.

I'm considering trying my thigh next time as I have some subdermal scaring on my stomach from 10 yrs of injecting and my thighs are usually less sensitive. I've been avoiding the scaring with the pump but it is still quite sore.

I'm hoping that I either get used to it or find a less sensitive area!!

Let me know how you get on!

Hia leebee - no soreness on the last 2 so maybe one of those things from time to time. How are you blood sugars now?

Hi Riri,

I changed last night to the sure T sets, the manual 6mm steel cannula and it went in like a dream. I've switched to using my thighs.

My stomach cannula with the silhoette was incredibly painful yesterday and so I spoke to my pump nurse who gave me the sure T sets.

Fingers crossed they are much more comfortable. I can't even feel it now.

I did have a slight blip in blood sugars last night, but in all fairness the two glasses of mulled wine may have been trhe culpret.

Fasting levels where 5.6 this morning!!
