Silly question

This only applies to those on insulin and insulin promoting drugs because of the risk of hypos. It doesn't apply to others. Under 5 is perfectly safe for those people.
Unless of course you are a HGV driver or the like then it's not a guide line it's mandatory.

You do not want to go so low you can feel dizzy while driving or using machinery
Be assured, i do not allow myself to "go so low you can feel dizzy", As I said I allow myself to sit at the BG that I feel natural (and comfortable) at, indeed, I feel better at these levels, than at the false levels forced on me by loading with carbs.

Going back to the OP question, the 4.8 is a good figure, however you may or may not have had a liver dump as you could have been higher than 4.8 pre-breakfast? We just don't know unless you did do a pre-breakfast test?

But what ever you are doing keep doing it - seems to be working for you.

It is perfectly normal for the liver to do a glucose dump when the body needs it, as already mentioned, what some people forget is that the body will then need to top up the glucose store afterwards - normally just after an insulin user has injected a correction dose!
