Type 2 Silly question?

Hi everyone.
As you can see I am a newbie on here and loving the support there is here.
I'm sure this is probably a silly question but from reading previous posts I am getting the carb reduction to reduce sugar and stay fuller longer with proteins. My wife is really good and helping me to cut down carbs which has always been a big part of my diet.
She asked a good question, as I'm on medication for high blood pressure and high cholesterol how will the low carb high fat diet affect my cholesterol?
Thanks in advance.
Chris

It's really a argumentative point in the medical world, as is a lot of things that diabetics should eat and their lifestyle.
Old thinking is that if you eat full fat with low carb, then cholesterol will definitely go up and stay there, causing heart problems etc.
New thinking is after a rise in cholesterol levels will go up slightly then go down and if you persist long enough back to good levels.
My experience of trying every diet, the only one that has worked is low carb, full fat. My own cholesterol levels was dangerously high because of excess insulin and visceral fat.
Now, losing loads of weight and eating full fat with low carbs, my cholesterol is back to normal levels. And I'm healthier and fitter than I have been for decades!

Thank you Noscher that sort of makes sense as your body gets use to it. I will persist with it as so many people on here swear by it.

Chris, welcome to the forum.
The experience here seems to be that LCHF will reduce blood sugar levels and cholesterol as well.
I was diagnosed in July as type 2. On 1st August I decided to go LCHF. My cholesterol measurements were really not good. For example my Triclicerides were 6.0!!
Last week I had bloods done my HbA1c is now 42,all my cholesterol measurements have improved some dramatically. My Triclicerides are 1.0
Whilst I cannot give you specific advice what I can say is that there is a pattern emerging here.
Incidentally I am on blood pressure medication and statins.

I am not on meds for BP or on statins!

Thank you Redsnapper, that is great that your cholesterol has improved so much, it looks as if LCHF is the way forward for reducing weight, lowering cholesterol and hopefully keep ny blood pressure in order.
