Hi peeps

I'm sure many of you have heard the phrase 'every cloud has a silver lining' - well it certainly proved to be the case for me. I'd been struggling for some time trying to get better control of my diabetes, using every excuse under the sun to explain why my blood sugar readings were increasing - and of course it was never down to me!

Well I've recently had to undergo a rather painful separation from my wife and family and being unemployed ( for some time now) found myself trying to cope on only £53.30 per week. It's been very difficult and there has been as I'm sure you can understand some rather drastic changes in lifestyle - but the silver lining - my blood sugar readings first thing in the morning, down from an avg of 12.5 to 9.2. My overall avg (based on my meter readings) down from 11.2 to 7.9 and this is only after the first month. I've also lost just over a stone in weight. Actually looking forward to my appointment with my diabetic nurse next week - hopefully this time no slap on the wrist! :-)

And by the way - my diet is not that bad either - I am managing to cope on such a meager budget, it's just made think a lot more about what I buy and eat - it is a well balanced diet with fresh fruit and veg, just got rid of all the **** and processed food I was consuming.

So if you are struggling with your blood sugars take a long hard serious and honest look at your food/drink intake - you might just be surprised!

I like your very honest post, seems you have finally had a "wake-up call" which will turn your life around if you let it. I hope things move on for the better for you and you stick to the diet is helping to make you a much healthier person.

Good luck.

thank you - it's amazing how in such short a space of time how much better and more energised I feel - this is definitely my long term lifestyle plan
