my hba1c is 7.3 and my cholestorol is 4.3 my doctor has told me to take 40 mg of simvatatin tablets (1 at night) and 75mg of asprin (1every morning)

I didnt think i needed them but he said as a precaution......is this ok?
Ive read on the internet the long term use of simvastatin and asprin and it worries me.....dont want to get kidney problems or any other problems later on in life......what should i do?
Ive stopped taking them since saturday.........should i carry on with them?

Re: Simvatatin 40mg and Asprin 75mg

I have kidney problems and my late husband was a dialysis patient. Kidney patients are normally prescribed statins as they have other benefits as well as the obvious. Also - although your figures seem fine - you need to know the figures for good and bad cholesterol. It could be that your "bad" figures are higher than they should be. The total, which is what we are always given, is in fact misleading. I can't comment on asprin except to say that my husband took that as well - and he lived for 34 years on dialysis so something must have been right as that is very unusual.
