Please be aware any STATIN usage needs to be accompanied by Co enzyme Q10 as they deplete it and this is VERY dangerous!
Hiya, by the way
Dawnx
Thanks for your information Dawn.
I have to say whilst I agree for some people it MAY be beneficial in some ways.....to say it is VERY dangerous to do without is rather extreme. We have had some discussions about Q10 on here before, I don't think anybody has ever alleged it was dangerous to not use it whilst taking a statin ?? I didn't find that in any of the links either, nor in any of my previous research on the subject.
Some previous findings:
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is produced by the human body and is necessary for the basic functioning of cells. CoQ10 levels are reported to decrease with age and to be low in patients with some chronic diseases such as heart conditions, muscular dystrophies, Parkinson's disease, cancer, diabetes, and HIV/AIDS. Some prescription drugs may also lower CoQ10 levels.
Levels of CoQ10 in the body can be increased by taking CoQ10 supplements, although it is not clear that replacing "low CoQ10" is beneficial.
CoQ10 has been used, recommended, or studied for numerous conditions, but remains controversial as a treatment in many areas.
So I have to disagree with your opinion and would advise members to do their own research before deciding if it is in fact, dangerous or not to do without Q10 whilst taking any statin. Or, even whether it is a worthwhile supplement.
