Simvastatin

Hi Peeps,
I've been on Simvastatin for 3 yrs or so, and to be honest I don't know when is the best time for taking it. One person said with water at night before bed. Someone else said middle of the day with food etc I just don't know when the best time is. Can anyone advise.

Hi johnny. both myself and my brother take simvastatin we were both told to take it at night before retiring to bed.

I can confirm that... I, too was told to take it at night. I had previously been on another statin, taken in the morning, but the doctor told me the Simvastatin is more effective if taken at night.

Whe I was on Simvastatin I was told @night, before bed. But side effects caused me to stop (and Chol figures went better!!)

On a different statin I was told any time. With Simvastatin I was told to take it at night.

I take Pravastatin and was told to take it in the morning. No side effects from it.

On the small print leaflet that comes with Simvastatin it says

It is recommeded that Simvastatin Tablets are taken in the evening or night, so that they will be working when the body is producing the most cholesterol
