Had a diabetes review today with my doctor, whom I do respect. Went better than I expected since I know I've been a bad boy the past while, particularly over the festive period. Anyway, cholesterol = 5, Hb = 7.4, B12 etc normal. Whilst I know I need to get the Hb down to the 6 level by the next visit, which is what it was a couple of years ago and is achievable. The Doc did not increase my 750Met+80Glic twice a day regime and this is encouraging. What the Doc did mention was a new T2 drugs called Sitagliptins. Was wondering if anyone on here has any experince of these new drugs :?:

It's funny, my doctor just put me on Januvia 2 weeks ago and before then I had never heard about Januvia. Now I see it mentioned all over the forum and everyone is being put on it....

The reason it hasn't been used much before is no doubt down to cost........a 28 day supply costs around £33.26 as opposed to just a few pounds for the same number of Metformin and Gliclazide.........

So if people are being put on it now then the GP/Consultant is not so concerned about the cost ! :)

Thanks for that people :) Going back some years I remember Metfartin SR being relatively expensive and my Doc at the time being reluctant to prescribe it. Hopefully this "new to me" drug will follow a similar downward price trend as economies of scale click in.
