how many days do the seasoned pumpers go before changing sites? I'm tending to change every 2 days but I'm thinking as im getting used to things now I'll leave for 3 days, would appreciate hearing what others do please.

How often you change depends on what type of cannula you are using. Steel ones are meant to be changed every 2 days and Teflon every 3 days.

I use Teflon and change every 3 unless site gets sore or I'm trying to adjust my cannula change day to avoid one on a certain day. So for example I don't want to change cannula on Christmas day so I'll leave a comfy set in 4 days to adjust timings :)

Thank you, I'm using Teflon so will try going to 3 days. I find sometimes it's really comfortable so I can stretch it another day that would be better.

Hi Minnie

I use a Medtronic Veo pump with Quick sets and leave my cannulas in for 3 days without a problem. Were you told to change every 2 days for a reason? If not and the cannula feels comfortable and the skin around looks normal then I would give it a try.

Thanks flowerpot and hooked.

When I had my original induction I was told maximum 3 days but 2 days would be preferable, I'm just finding that I'm ok with 2 days but woukd rather go to 3 and was interested to hear what most people do.

Based on the 72 hour timer on the Cellnovo reservoir, I've been changing every 3 days so far, but planning to avoid changing at stupid times like when I'm needing to catch an early train or plane.

I use stainless steel sets and change anywher from 2 to 3 days...ie didn't change last night as going to have bath this afternoon. Levels good so I just left till it suited me to change it!!
Should be 2 days. I do always look at my levels and if set causes me concern in those extra hours I will change it, but I'm certainly not a 48hour spot on timer for my changes..

If you use metal cannulas then you change every 2 days, Teflon 3 days. :)

I seem to be very lucky in that I can change 2/3/4 days as I need obviously being more careful the longer I leave it...
