Hi there!

Does anyone use Skin Grip to secure their CGM?

I bought a pack to keep my Dexcom stuck on for the full 10 days. I found that after a few days the outer edge of the plaster came unstuck and was a bit flappy.

I trimmed it to make it look a bit better.

However when I removed the remainder to change my sensor, it was sooo stuck on and very painful to remove. It tore my skin and I’ve been left with sore raw patches.

The skin grips are sort of too good and not good enough at the same time.

Any tips for removing them without major pain?

I’m currently trialling an overpatch that Dexcom sent with my last order and they feel a bit more secure.

I use the Dexcom overpatches and haven’t had trouble removing them, and they easily last 10 days as well. That said, if you do have trouble an adhesive removable swipe should do the trick, just try and avoid the ones that only contain alcohol as I find those ones don’t work as well and are just over-priced alcohol swabs (about 20x the price of an alcohol swab at my chemist). You could try an alcohol swab if you don’t have anything else. I used to use Remove Universal Adhesive wipes when I was using the libre 2 and was putting a big bandage over it and found they worked really well. The alcohol swabs basically did nothing

I don't use Skin Grip but the advice I had from a physio was to always remove well stuck plasters, etc very slowly in the shower , letting the water get to the glue as I slowly peel it back.

Thanks! Will have a look at some of those options!

Thanks! This stuff does sort of feel like physio tape, even removing after a shower was very painful!

I don’t think it was helped by the plaster being half off already as that probably meant it was tugging against clothes for a while.

I use skin tac, so no overpatch needed, and then use a skin adhesive remover spray to remove it. You can also use baby oil or any kind of oil to remove it.

Im a bit paranoid about losing them as they’re so expensive! I might try to use cavilon spray underneath so my skin will be protected.
