Skin maintenance

I know we should take care of our skin. Down side for me my needle slipped while I tried injecting on my thigh. I got a nice bleed and it sucks. Seems my skin got oily. How do I maintain the good skin but avoid these accidents?

Could you elaborate a little as to what happened?
Was your hand oily, thus losing grip on the pen..?
Or the skin oily on your leg this losing a grip on a pinch up??
Is you're skin naturally oily, or was this due to the application of a skin care product???
