This week I received the results of my 4th HbA1c result after being diagnosed T2 in Jan of last year at 8.8%. My latest HbA1c is 6.2 and my Cholestrol is 6.3 however, I'm 6 ft tall, exercise for 45-60 mins every day and weigh just over 11st and currently do not take any medication.
My diet does include a little sat. fat with roasted Chicken thighs [no oil] and steamed veg as a typical evening meal, grilled Bacon or Sausage once or twice a week, Boiled Eggs for breakfast with a slice of Granary Bread for breakfast. I avoid Cheese completely and junk/processed food.
My blood sugar results 2 hours after eating are typically between low 5's and low 6's but in the 4's after exercise and have been in this range constantly for the last 9 months. Are there any other skinny T2's out there with high Cholestrol and if so, have you managed to reduce it and by what means?

Hi, my cholesterol was 6.1 in September 2012 and 3.4 early December. My weight has dropped from 12st to where it is now at just under 11st and still falling. In that time I have significantly increased the amount of cheese, eggs, advocado, nuts, cream in coffee etc that i consume. I can only put this decrease in my cholesterol down to one thing....statins.

Hi Nik, I was offered Statins by my GP but I declined as I am concerned about long term use and possible side effects, I realise the dangers of high Cholestrol but I would prefer to reduce it by more natural means.

Any side effects Nik?
I’ve worked really hard the past 5 months, lowish carb - HBA1c from 114 to 44 lost 6% body weight (target 5%) & blood pressure right down & reduced meds & now my non hdl cholesterol has shot up. Meeting with DN next week & I guess she’ll put me on Statins. I had a tough time with side effects on the diabetes meds & really want to come off all so am worried about Statins as already coping with headaches stomach issues etc.
