:oldman: So the last time I had a full nights sleep was over 2 months ago, since then the longest sleep has been for 1 hour and 16 minutes :jimlad:. The doctors did prescribe tablets just for a couple of nights but nothing changed so they doubled them and still nothing happened.Maybe its part of the over active thyroid I have just been diagnosed with but does anyone have any natural or other ideas to help PLEASE PLEASE :inpain:

Sheesh ... I'd hate to go thru that.

People will reply to this later so let's get them prepared by me asking you a few questions. What are the tablets? Are you sleeping during the day? Do you fall back to sleep at all during the nite and if so, how many times?

Good luck Mike

i also have trouble sleeping, have done for around 6 years

Oh no I never go back to sleep day or night, just after the hour I am bouncing back up again ready to go.. I take priadel 1200mg, trazadone 100mg, propranolol 240mg, sertraline 2.5mg ,carbimazole 40mg all daily not including painkillers :jimlad:

I really hope you get on top of all this .... Mike

For how long have you been on this cocktail? The carbimazole for example? 40mg is quite a lot, isn't it so what does you thyroid result look like? And do you really need all of the 240 mgs of propanolol? You could ask to see a pharmacist to discuss you meds but if I were you I'd start with thyroid tests.

have to say I could sleep through anything before I was diognosed with Diabetes, now however I wake up some times twice a night mainly to go to the toilet but, I can not understand why i wake up at all seeing as I used to be such a good sleeper and I have to say i do love my sleep!!!!

Trouble is, you get used to waking and go to bed expecting to wake, so you do. It's a vicious circle. You could ask pharmacy about trying something like Nitol. There's one that contains anti histamine and one that got valerian, hope & lettuce extract. Hope you get sorted soon. In meantime try & keep to routine of ame time for bed, no reading or tv in bedroom. Good luck

An over active thyroid makes people very hyper always on the go, and an under active thyroid is the opposite, very tired.
I don't have thyroid problems, but I have never been a good sleeper, and never sleep through out the night, my mind is very active, I just put up with it, its part of my life.
You could try and blank your mind and then only think of one thing ( It can be difficult, I think of the number one or ten) also relaxation is good, starting from your toes and working all the way up your body. Some tea's can help, as long as its not a stimulant. Stopping smoking and reducing alcohol is supposed to help.
I really hope you can find something that helps, good luck
