You made me laugh, thank you... but the truth is he has access to everything during the day, at night it would be a good option to lock the kitchen door...

Then speaking from experience with the door installation & security. I would suggest a good Mortice lock be fitted.. It's less obtrusive & prone to accidental locking as the issue is with surface mounted Yale locks..! ;)
