many things depression is awfull,I wish there were more support with Diabetes in my area would love to meet people and talk about the condition ... I get along .
I joined a slimming club last Thursday ( Slimming world ) with my daughter she is not a Diabetic.
I is counting your points and sins,Green Day Red Day, and Extra easy choice...

I am finding it very confusing but my daughter is helping me and too be honest has motivated me in to thinking about what i am eating, although I should be thinking like that as a Diabetic, but I crave sweet things and as I am getting weighed next Thursday it has been an incentive so far.

Are there any one else here in a slimming club and how do you find it so far,I will be greatfull for any feedback.... :)

I am not disciplined enough to follow rules like that! I am losing weight but by my own common sense and gym membership route. Lost a stone so far and I think it's partly down to telling people I'm trying to lose weight and I stay motivated by not wanting to lose face by failing! Also I've had a few people tell me I look better for the weight loss and that really boosts the ego to keep me carrying on!

Thank you Gappy good luck sounds like your on the rite track,I am the same told loads people I want to be in my Jeans by October,I am also using my local Gym only half hour twice a week and I swim too.
Nigel Thank you so much for the Link,I lost half a pound this week I want to do better this week getting in to it now and enjoying the weekly classes ...

Enjoying it is the good thing it means you keep going back! I only weigh myself once a week & if it's halg a pound or 2 pound it makes no difference. As far as I'm concerned it's not how quick you lose it, it's how long you keep it off

Slimming World
I was diagnosed Type 2 June 2010 and was not overweight then, however as a result of cutting out sugar I ate more fat and gained weight! It has taken a year to get my medication right and with an HBA1c of 7.4 in June 2011 my GP said I was now within the correct range; so my next challenge was to get some weight off.

I joined slimming world 2 days after my HBA1C results feeling more positive.
I am fortunate to be able to get strips so was able to closely monitor my sugar levels, and to my surprise I can eat as many starchy carbs and fruit as I Iike with no effect on my readings, so I was able to follow the extra easy plan without difficulty; obviously I still checked sugar levels on foods as some do surprise me still.

I was having hypos so went to see the GP who has taken me off my glimepiride, still on Metformin at present; she was delighted and said this was because of my weight loss.

I have lost 19.5 lbs and now have a BMI of 24, I intend to loose a few more lbs to get my BMI to around 22.5

The GP decided to do an HBAiC test 3 months later (which covers the 3 months I have been on this diet), the results of which is 6.4. and cholesterol of 3.

So obviously these diets have different effects on diabetics but I have to say that I don't really understand how I can eat so much fruit and carbs and have such a reduction in my HBA1c-perhaps someone more knowledgeable can explain it to me? Anyway, I am delighted, and so is my GP
