We do not have feral squirrels in Austraila like the grey one, from the website I found that clip the owner put olive oils on the pole the "bird feeder" is on as the squirell was robbing it to often.

Yes those busy little ingenious animals can really empty our bird feeders pretty quickly!
I though like them myself, as they are a fun and very active animal to have in your garden. And they don't really harass your birds or their nests either if the squirrels otherwise can find alternative food to nurture on. So I have sat up a few alternative feeders specially for these little devils.
And for the bird feeders, they are now all of the squirrel- and big-birds protected types. (you can find them on Amazon) The more funny ones with squirrels still coming to try and steal a bird-snack is the one where the bird feeder bench is subtle. So 2-3 small e.g. sparrows can sit on it with no problem, but if a heavier animal like a squirrel takes seat, then it bends slightly down and a switch is activated, so a small engine starts spinning the feeder bench around.
Still some squirrels keeps coming back and try to battle that thing!
Some of them should have a medal and a big pile of nuts for their courage and perseverance!
