Slow release metformin

I was on Diabex (2 x 1000) per day and slow release. It still took a while for stomach rumbling to reduce and now its' disappeared altogether and I'm down to one tablet in the evening.

The doctor told me it didn't matter whether I took 1 x 1000 or 2 x 500 and one tablet is designed for slow release across 24 hours as would be 2.

I hope to be off them altogether by end of this year. It's my experience that they certainly blunt appetite but that's no problem as far as I'm concerned as long as I don't lose too much weight. At 6 foot, I reckon my current weight of 78 is ideal.

Hi mike that is good to know ...it is a 24 hours release ...so,should work the same ...I will keep,trying with the new SR , great to hear about your progress that is good to hear ...Thank you for your support .. well done on weight loss :) always good that ...Kat

I think there must be some medication that would help , but the problem is just horrid though ....goodness you will have your feet up knitting soon ;) I can't knit ....can't sew either ....now you have made me think I need a hobbie :)

I've always been on SR so can't compare and I've never had a minutes problem over 10 years. Metformin dosage isn't critical as it only has a small effect on blood sugar. Views on splitting SR dosage during the day vary but being SR it isn't critical in practice but as usual follow the leaflet's guidance or the GPs. Check with the chemist if needed.

I can do both lol I don't want another medication to take I know people take stuff to relieve the diarrhoea but it annoys me that I felt fine before I was diagnosed this time last year and now I'm practically incontinent all because of medication that's meant to help.

What a pain , you have to get it sorted ..easier said than done I know ...
Sorry you are having an awful time ..it is two,years for me this November ....how times flies , but I will , I guess like you never forget that day ...I knew something was very wrong .....but it was a shock all the same ...good job we are hear to,support each other ...it really helps ...

Now when can I have the knitting and sewing lessons ....jigsaws are my thing ...tut tut ...lol

lol its been so long since I had proper time for knitting it would be lovely to get back into it. Was thinking the other week I should be knitting Christmas jumpers for my grandson's
 
Yes , knit for your grandson ...and you could knit Christmas stockings ...not long until the 25 dec lol ...lol
Do you know I spent the afternoon wrapping up some Christmas prezzies lol lol I hated it ....I like opening better x

I don't like Christmas mostly because of the expense that I can't afford and secondly because I've been on my own so long it lost its magic
 
Yes it is very very expensive , I started in January sales !!!! Mainly gifts for frail parents ...and neices and nephew ...
I often think this is just a waste of time ....then have to travel to deliver them ...all stress ...
Sorry you are on your own , that is very hard.....
I am with OH we just have a simple day ....I love tv on Christmas Day ...the downton abbey special ...x

not a big TV watcher really tends to just ad company in the background. my daughter lives with me.
