Maybe one day, but nothing that works yet.Smartwatches with blood glucose monitoring
I have had a few "glucose watches" advertised to me on social media in the last couple of days. Not surprised as the algorithms know I'm diabetic and anything and everything with those words in it comes my way. They don't seem to have changed in any way - that is, they're still junk.In the last month or so, I've had many friends including my Type 2 brother send me links of Ads for these smart type Glucose meters. The ads are now popping up everywhere. They come in a variety of shapes including Finger Clip types similar to the Saturated Blood Oxygen meters, through to Finger rings and Wrist Watches. I've tried searching on Wikipedia and even on the FDA site to see if anything is mentioned about them and found nothing. I do believe the FDA have put a warning out about these devices suggesting that they are Not to be used as if there are any about for real, they will be very inaccurate.
Does anyone have any updates on these?
There’s a T1 guy on YouTube did a test on 3 of these watches. In the last month or so, I've had many friends including my Type 2 brother send me links of Ads for these smart type Glucose meters. I’ve seen considerable price reduction on these “BG sensing” watches on FB.I have had a few "glucose watches" advertised to me on social media in the last couple of days. There is a lot of genuine reporting around over the counter CGMs becoming available in the US (I hope with a price reduction) and if these "watches" worked I don't think we'd be hearing about them from dodgy adverts on facebook.
So,There is a company called Avon Technology which aims to release a wearable blood glucose meter in 2024 … see https://afontechnology.com/glucowear/
Apple may eventually release one, but unlikely to be on the Apple Watch X in 2024.
