There is a company called Avon Technology which aims to release a wearable blood glucose meter in 2024 … see https://afontechnology.com/glucowear/

Apple may eventually release one, but unlikely to be on the Apple Watch X in 2024.

Interesting, would 100% get one of these hopefully the tech ports over into Garmin as well.

Worth taking a look around on this forum - there are several threads going back years about the claims made for these "watches".

No-one, to my knowledge, has ever come back with an endorsement.

In the last month or so, I've had many friends including my Type 2 brother send me links of Ads for these smart type Glucose meters. The ads are now popping up everywhere. They come in a variety of shapes including Finger Clip types similar to the Saturated Blood Oxygen meters, through to Finger rings and Wrist Watches. I've tried searching on Wikipedia and even on the FDA site to see if anything is mentioned about them and found nothing. I do believe the FDA have put a warning out about these devices suggesting that they are Not to be used as if there are any about for real, they will be very inaccurate.

Does anyone have any updates on these?

I have had a few "glucose watches" advertised to me on social media in the last couple of days. Not surprised as the algorithms know I'm diabetic and anything and everything with those words in it comes my way. They don't seem to have changed in any way - that is, they're still junk.

There is a lot of genuine reporting around over the counter CGMs becoming available in the US (I hope with a price reduction) and if these "watches" worked I don't think we'd be hearing about them from dodgy adverts on facebook.

There’s a T1 guy on YouTube did a test on 3 of these watches.
Also using his sensor & meter for comparison..

He even sent his BG up & controlled a hypo to find out if they are any good.
Infact, at that point I felt sorry for the guy as he held together what he needed to do for the experiment?

They all just kept telling him he was around the acceptable BG zone…
Exactly what you would want to see as a non-diabetic.

If you want a reasonable representation of your BG on your wrist?
There are some cheaper Android or IOS wear models superseded by the latest and more expensive developments which can handle your sensor.
Along with some free & trusted downloadable apps…

I’ve seen the FB ads too.
I assume it’s because I’m on some closed community groups regarding apps like “Diabox.”

I’ve seen considerable price reduction on these “BG sensing” watches on FB.

They can’t be selling for a reason… ;)

I saw one a couple of years back that relies on sweat?
You wipe your brow with a finger then measure BG off that with that. German company? From memory.
Then there was another, with pads that needed purchase for changing attached to where the buckle would be on the strap opposite side of the wrist…
lol, all assuming you sweat consistently & rather profusely.??

So,

This looks like it boasts it can sense BGs then send to an app on your phone to send onward to the smart watch? (If an IOS or Android device.)
Sorry to burst any bubble. (I mean this with the best intention.) It’s just another “wristband.” Passing on BT “fake news” it don’t even seem to tell the time…
It’s just a more conviluted version of a fake “catch penny” bit of “tech.”

From the site.
“How does Glucowear™ work?
Glucowear™ works by using ultra low power rf/microwave technology to read the levels of glucose in the blood.”

We can only dream right now with this “Star Trek” tech.

The closest we have right now is either Libre or a Dexy..

It may be that they are not actually interested in selling to diabetics at all. Much more simple to sell to the worried well - non-D folks who won't double check with a blood test but will be reassured to see the "normal levels". Of course if any of these actually do have develop a BG issue, the piece of junk won't highlight it for them.
