Your eating very very little amounts of food. I would eat more calories in a range of food and have more insulin medication which ever you take.
SJC your GFR is not to bad. It just shows mild kidney impairment so don't focus to much on how it will effect your kidneys. Just makes sure your U&E's are checked regularly and eat some meat to help raise your weight. A little protein won't harm you

I agree. I basically said the same. I know there are renal dieticians as I've attended them. The thing is a lot of renal patients are diabetic so they have an understanding of both. So definitely the way forwardIf it was me (which it isn't), I'd be pushing to see a dietician who has experience or specialises in renal patients. Your renal consultant (assuming you have one) should be able to do this, ask when you go to your next appointment. I haven't been a nurse for over 10 years now, but when I was, there were certain dieticians who specialised in certain categories of patients; I know we had renal dieticians anyway. It's worth asking.
I would ask to be referred the next time you see your consultant. As they have their own dieticians. As I said your renal function is not to bad so I'm sure they would be of help for you. My GFR is 22 so I do know what I'm talking about. Good luck with it all

Like you I struggle to keep my weight on have never been overweight in my life When you are not overweight to start with as soon as you cut out the sugar stuff and starchy carbs you will loose weight and it is more significant if you don't really need to. When I was diagnosed as prediabetic I cut out all sugar stuff and some starchy carbs and lost weight straight away I have now reached a plateau but still have to watch my weight as I don't want to loose any more than I am now about 8.7st and I think I look to skinny.
I eat some bread...usually Bergen.., rye crackers and potatoes...I have never like rice or pasta...I have never cut any other vegetables or fruits from my diet I do low fat in most foods and I don't eat red meat but I do eat nuts as they are good fats so I just rely on what I do eat to keep the weight on I can't go to low carbs as I just loose more weight I think age is a factor as well I am 75 so my body now needs as many vitimin and minerals as it can get to keep reasonably healthy..I don't have any other medical problems.. and that means eating as many different vegetables and fruit as I can but I know a lot here will not agree with that
4 Blue Berries! , Jesus you are restricted. I'd defiantly see a dietician. I'm sure you know calories are contained in everything so like many people have said eat higher quantities. Do you test your blood with a machine yourself? Do you have a highly active job?
Regards
Have you read some of the old posts with CKD they say they got better function on a lchf diet (your dietitian will pull its hair out) but low/moderate protein, low carb, high fat has worked for some kidney guysI would ask to be referred the next time you see your consultant. As they have their own dieticians. As I said your renal function is not to bad so I'm sure they would be of help for you. My GFR is 22 so I do know what I'm talking about. Good luck with it all
