Very dark chocolate, (Lindt 85% and more. After a while you work your way up to 100%), hard cheeses, cold cuts, pecans and macadamia's, pork scratchings, olives, bit of fish from a tin. Anything low carb, really. What do people have for snacks?
Thank you JoKalsbeek. I have the added disadvantage that I am near enough Vegan, however I drink semi skimmed milk...Very dark chocolate, (Lindt 85% and more. Best would be not to snack to begin with, but sometimes there's an itch to scratch. Or, like when we visit my in-laws, they won't eat something with their coffee if I don't have something to munch on too!![]()
Oh jeez... Sorry. That does leave the dark chocolate, though.Thank you JoKalsbeek. I have the added disadvantage that I am near enough Vegan, however I drink semi skimmed milk...
I make my own hummus from tined chickpeas, its lovely. Have also made my mash with cannelloni beans, cauliflower rice, butter all blitzed and its a great substituteOh jeez... Sorry. That does leave the dark chocolate, though. And the nuts, olives... Oh, celery sticks with a bit of hummus? (The hummus adds up if you have too much, but still...). I sometimes have low carb crackers with vegetable spread/dip, but they're local dutch brands and would be useless for you. Sometimes I just put some coconut oil on, as I love the taste.
And if you do use milk, maybe go for the full fat stuff, or cream? More flavour, more fats to slow down a sugar spike, more filling. Just saying, if you're going to anyway... Might as well chose the option that's healthier for a diabetic. Something to think about maybe, anyway.
