Hey folks

I have very recently been diagnosed with diabetes, I already miss my crisps and chocolate!......any advice?!

I snack on a handful of nuts (not peanuts) or take a pre-hardboiled egg out of the fridge, and have that if feeling peckish.

Me too - Although I've been diagnosed since Nov 09 I have really only just started taking it seriously. Starting insulin on monday!

Cutting out my usual snacks has been difficult. So far I've been using Brazil Nuts and little mini peparami.

The search goes on... :)

I have peanuts from time to time, but they are high carbs compared to other nuts. I snack on walnuts, pecans, almonds. I also have babybel cheeses, slices of ham rolled up. If you really can't survive without chocolate why not try 85% cocoa, dark chocolate, a square or two, its intense but really helps with my chocolate cravings.

Hi i missed my chocolate and crisp at first but now it doesnt bother me that much if i fancy a bit i buy the dark chocolate from aldis and allow myself a couple of squares it usually lasts me about 2 weeks, i buy aldis savour bake crackers ,and maybe have 4 with some cream cheese before bed i tend to snack on houmous with carrot sticks, almonds, hard boiled eggs, friut, its hard sometimes but the weight ive lost spurs me on, :D good luck

I tend to snack on cheese, ham, salami (lidl do a nice version of peperami), dark choc, nuts, hard boiled eggs. I also make sugarfree jelly sweets (recipe on here somewhere) that I keep in the fridge to nibble on. And sainsburys do sugarfree marshmallows which are nice. Also lately ive been spreading things on celery like peanut butter or boursin, its quite tasty!
